World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2025: Building a Sustainable Future

In this article we will discuss...

On March 4, the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development is celebrated, a date proclaimed by UNESCO in November 2019. This day is crucial within the UN’s 2030 Agenda, which sets 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with 169 targets to address global challenges in the economic, social, and environmental spheres. World Engineering Day 2025: “Building a Sustainable Future Through Engineering”

In 2025, the theme of this celebration is “Building a Sustainable Future Through Engineering.” The World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) has scheduled various activities, including a main event at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, which will be broadcast live at: https://worldengineeringday.net/live/.

Why is World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development celebrated?

Engineering has played a crucial role in humanity’s advancement and development, providing innovative solutions to global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and public health. This day also aims to raise awareness of the importance of achieving sustainability goals and to recognize the contributions of engineers to technological development and the improvement of quality of life.

According to Dr. Marlene Kanga, former president of WFEO: “Engineers are not very good at articulating the value of engineering and the impact it creates on society. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk about these aspects and engage the community in the work of engineers.”

JLM Engineering: Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future

At JLM Engineering, we carry engineering in our DNA. We firmly believe in the need to promote sustainable development without halting humanity’s progress. We contribute to sustainability through our specialized products for the treatment of construction and demolition waste (CDW), which, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), amounted to 32.5 million tons in 2020, approximately 30% of the total waste.

Our mobile and compact equipment, such as the TR100 and TR200, enable waste recovery directly on-site, ensuring efficient and sustainable treatment. For larger volumes, we offer the REC100, a high-performance fixed recovery plant. Additionally, our product range includes screening equipment, metal selection systems (overband), transport solutions like conveyors belts and bucket elevators, and crushing equipment like impact mills.

JLM Engineering’s Commitment to Sustainable Development

Through these innovative solutions, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability by promoting responsible and efficient waste management practices and contributing to the development of a fairer, more balanced, and environmentally respectful society.
