JLM Ingeniería: Committed to Safety in Every One of Our Designs

Every April 28th since 2003, we celebrate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work — a key date to reflect on the importance of creating and maintaining safe, healthy, and sustainable work environments. This year’s theme is “Revolutionizing Safety and Health: The Role of AI and Digitalization at Work.” At JLM Ingeniería, we join the awareness campaign organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to focus attention on promoting a culture of safety and health to help reduce work-related deaths and injuries.

Risk Prevention: More than an Obligation, a Shared Responsibility

In a sector like ours — machinery manufacturing — where heavy equipment, high-impact tools, and complex operating conditions are daily realities, occupational safety and health management is a key strategic axis.

Risk prevention must not be understood merely as regulatory compliance, but as a transversal practice involving all levels of the organization. Protecting the physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of our human capital is a shared responsibility.

Adopting a preventive culture involves establishing safe procedures, promoting continuous training, proactively identifying hazards, and properly managing risks.

Safety by Design: A Fundamental Principle at JLM Ingeniería

When developing solutions for the extractive, construction, and waste management industries, operational safety is integrated from the earliest stages of equipment design and engineering. Incorporating functional and ergonomic safety criteria is not an added value — it is an essential requirement guiding our entire manufacturing process.

Each machine is designed not only to ensure high technical performance and a robust structure but also to actively and passively protect operators during operation, maintenance, and transport phases. We achieve this through:

  • Emergency stop systems and redundant safety devices.
  • Accessible designs facilitating inspections and maintenance without unnecessary risks.
  • Clear visual signage identifying critical zones and intervention points.
  • Detailed technical manuals and safe operation protocols.
  • Specialized training for machine operators.

Preventive Maintenance and Facility Upgrades: Pillars for a Safe Work Environment

As part of an integrated occupational safety and health management system, preventive equipment maintenance and technical facility upgrades are essential components for mitigating industrial process risks.

Structured preventive maintenance plans, aligned with our recommendations, help anticipate failures, avoid risk situations due to mechanical deterioration, and ensure the safe availability of equipment.

At JLM Ingeniería, as machinery manufacturers (screens, conveyor belts, crushers, overbands, bucket elevators, screw conveyors), we recommend that these plans include:

  • Scheduled inspections of critical components (hydraulic systems, electrical systems, mobile structures).
  • Inspection and calibration of safety systems, such as emergency sensors and guards.
  • Record management to ensure traceability and analyze recurring faults, enabling continuous improvement programs.

In parallel, upgrading industrial facilities is key to ensuring safe working conditions. Risk assessments by work areas, the implementation of collective protections, and infrastructure modernization help reduce hazard exposure and enhance operational safety levels.

Safety as a Driver of Sustainable Development

On this World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we reaffirm our commitment to safe and innovative work environments.

At JLM Ingeniería, as manufacturers of industrial machinery (screens, conveyor belts, impact crushers, overbands, bucket elevators, screw conveyors, etc.), we responsibly embrace the challenge of continuing to innovate in safe design, promoting continuous improvement, and actively contributing to the well-being of all who rely on our solutions.

SUMMARY
