MITECO increases Circular Economy PERTE funding to €40.5 million

In this article we will discuss...

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through the Biodiversity Foundation, has announced the first definitive partial resolution of the second call for grants under Line 2 of the Circular Economy PERTE — a key initiative to promote circularity in industrial and business processes.

Increased budget: more opportunities for sustainable companies

In this call, the initial budget of €27 million has been increased to €40.5 million after receiving a large number of high-quality proposals. This increase will allow more business projects to access funding and advance toward a truly competitive circular economy.

Funded projects: ecodesign, digitization, and resource efficiency

The first resolution includes the approval of 19 projects driven by 25 entities, with a total of €25.7 million in grants. These initiatives focus on:

  • Ecodesign of products and industrial solutions
  • Reduction in the use of virgin raw materials
  • Minimization of waste in production processes
  • Digital transformation of industry

In total, these projects will mobilize an investment of €62 million, with individual grants ranging from €100,000 to €5.9 million. Co-financing varies between 15% and 60%, depending on company size and project scope.

Support for SMEs and sectoral diversity

21% of the grants have been awarded to small and micro-enterprises, while medium-sized companies represent 47.36%. This call reflects institutional commitment to Spain’s most innovative and sustainable business fabric.

The sectors benefiting include:

  • Waste management and recycling
  • Recovery of critical raw materials
  • Industrial digitization
  • Circular economy applied to furniture, mattresses, and WEEE

The projects are distributed across 13 autonomous communities, ensuring national equity: Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Madrid, Catalonia, Valencian Community, Galicia, Navarre, and Murcia.
Additional announcements from MITECO are expected in the coming weeks to complete the allocation.
